Happy Thursday evening and welcome back to Common Sense, your source for news and analysis on the circus that is American politics and entertainment.
Supreme Court orders Trump administration to “facilitate” return of wrongfully deported man… The Trump Administration must undue its human rights atrocity, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered. Despite being bought-and-paid-for and three of them being Trump’s handpicks, even this one went too far for the justices. NPR reports, “The Supreme Court has ordered the Trump administration to ‘facilitate’ the return to the United States of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who was mistakenly taken to El Salvador and remains in custody there. In a brief, unsigned decision issued Thursday, the court sided with a District Court judge who had ordered Abrego Garcia brought back to the U.S. ‘The order properly requires the Government to 'facilitate' Abrego Garcia's release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador,’ the Supreme Court said in its ruling.”
Republicans perpetuate lie about undocumented people voting and four cowardly Democrats go along with them… CBS News reported, “The House passed a controversial bill on Thursday that would require Americans to show proof of citizenship in person to register to vote in federal elections, which critics say could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters. Four Democrats joined all Republicans to pass the measure in a 220-208 vote. The bill, titled the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, or the SAVE Act, would require applicants to present documentary proof of U.S. citizenship such as a valid passport, a birth certificate or other forms of identification that show a person is a U.S. citizen. It's aimed at preventing noncitizens from voting — something which is already illegal and rare.”
PRO TIP: If Donald Trump is complaining about another country being mean to the U.S., he’s lying… We don’t know how CNN’s Daniel Dale does his job, but we really want to know whether he prefers Trump to tell new lies or just recycle the old ones. Both are horrible for the country, but which is better (or less bad) for Daniel Dale? He reports, “President Donald Trump made a series of false claims in televised remarks Thursday at a meeting of his Cabinet… most of which CNN has debunked before.” Trump’s list of lies included “The US trade deficit with China… Who pays Trump’s tariffs on China… The US military presence in Japan… The formation of the European Union… Inflation during Trump’s first term… Migration, prisons and mental institutions… The border wall…” Is that all???
Trump and Congressional Republicans under scrutiny for potential insider trading… NBC News reports, “Congressional Democrats are questioning whether President Donald Trump and his allies may have improperly acted on his suggestion Wednesday that it was a ‘great time to buy’ stocks shortly before announcing he was cutting back on some of his new tariffs — a move that made the markets go up. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said Thursday that Democrats ‘need to get to the bottom of the possible stock manipulation that is unfolding before the American people, including what if any advanced knowledge did members of the House Republican Conference have of Trump’s decision to pause the reckless tariffs that he put into place?’ Marjorie Taylor Greene has come under scrutiny for “buying the dip” for stocks she purchased on Friday, April 4. The Alt Media’s Adam Parkhomenko runs down why MTG’s trades were so problematic. Parkhomenko writes he initially thought MTG getting caught “buying the dip” meant “someone had spotted her getting chewing tobacco from a corner store.”

The Academy unveils award for best stunt design… The Hollywood Reporter writes, “The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the establishment of a stunt design Oscar, which will first be presented at the 100th Academy Awards. The Oscar will honor films released in 2027 at the 2028 ceremony. To date, only two stunt performers have been awarded Oscar statuettes, both honorary awards: Yakima Canutt, in 1966, and Hal Needham, in 2012. There are now more than 100 stunt professionals who are currently members of the Academy’s production and technology branch. Most were invited to join the organization in recent years as momentum grew to recognize their sector of the business.”

MTG is the female version of the worst public figure in the country. We need to bring back the tar and feathers.
Happy Friday eve Ally. Adam is right and I saw the whole interview with Brian Tyler Cohen and Senator Elizabeth Warren and Brian brought up how Dems are in the minority and the DOJ, FBI, SEC, everyone is corrupt. But that’s not going to excuse them. So she said that they already planned this out…AG Letitia James can investigate it and get records. The stock market is in her jurisdiction. I’m sure she’s happy to take him and whomever knew about this including congress Republicans on.
I’m glad the Supreme Court did something right and bring back Mr. Garcia. I hope he is ok.
Oh, and there was a helicopter crash in NY today? And also 2 big planes missed each other at Reagan int.
